Children, Teen & Family
Support for children and teens when an adult family member has cancer
The Gathering Place provides a number of programs and services to support children and teens when a significant adult in their life has a cancer diagnosis. The programs are comprehensive, meeting the needs of children from infancy through adolescence.Through group and individual interventions, children and teens learn to utilize their own personal strengths and abilities. Cancer can cause even the most organized family to struggle. Our Children and Teens Program provides a safety net of stability and opportunity for growth and learning.
We also provide services to families when a child or teen has a cancer diagnosis. Those services include individual support to help children and teens learn how to manage friends, family and medical 'stuff' as well as services to help siblings make sense of what is going on. We provide support to parents and guardians during and after a child or teen's cancer diagnosis and treatment.
